Goodbye Stanford Graduate School of Business (well, for a few weeks, anyway)

It’s hard to believe that I have been here for basically ONE HUNDRED DAYS. (I got here in the early parts of September, so you do the math!) In some ways it has flown by like nothing else – it seems like only yesterday I spend 10 hours at New Zealand airport thanks to the fog. In other ways, it has seemed like I have been here forever – with lots of traveling, heaps of fun, lots of new friends. There have been a ton of highlights …

  • Traveling to nice places around San Fran (like Lake Shasta, Santa Cruz)
  • Hanging out in London and seeing the sights there
  • Learning how to cook and hosting lots and lots of dinner parties
  • Getting really involved with the Christian fellowship here and leading worship each week
  • A collection of really interesting and great subjects at school, and the whole different, interactive class style
  • Making some great friends and spending lots of time getting to know them
  • Meeting hundreds of incredible people and learning about how their lives have led them to this place

When I reflect upon my time here, I guess I see positives and negatives (in true consulting fashion, of course! The powerpoint chart will soon follow …) about how I’ve made the most of this opportunity – basically I’m one seventh of my way through – with six quarters of around 10 weeks, as well as long summer break next year. Only 85.5% of the way to go! =)

So, as I step onto a rather convoluted flight home (San Fran - Hawaii - Manila - Melbourne - Sydney) [shudder] it's time for some reflection ...

Blessings
john

Note: I will be back in Sydney on the 18th December for 10 days. Please drop me an email (jfoong@gmail.com) if you'd like to hang out - my Australian mobile probably isn't working, but I'll get a temporary number anyway ... especially if you're up for seeing "King Kong", "Rent", "The Producers" ... or just singing Christmas carols
